As Light to Night returns for its ninth Edition, SPACElogic is proud to be entrusted with the fabrication and installation of various art installations, lighting up the cityscape from 17 Jan - 6 Feb 2025.
Featuring six large-scale inflatable sculptures taking the shape of palm-like tropical flora, Travelling Through the Tropical Rainforest by Cultural Medallion recipient and Singaporean Sculptor, Han Sai Por explores the interplay between nature and Singapore’s rapidly evolving environment. This installation marks a departure from her usual stone sculptures as it utilises inflatable materials to create large, impactful forms.
Our team’s role spanned project management and artwork installation, which also included electrical works, platform build, artwork placement and overall artwork safety management.
To ensure a pleasant and safe art-viewing experience for our visitors, we carried out extensive site planning, technical assessments, and electrical works. This included strategically positioning the artwork to avoid obstructing the National Gallery Singapore’s iconic projection mapping, carefully assessing counterweight requirements, and managing the electrical load of LED timers and blowers. All these efforts culminated in a safe and unimpeded viewing experience.
In just three weeks, the team fabricated and secured six steel-reinforced platforms and 40 counterweights, each weighing 400kg which amounted to 16,000kg used to anchor this monumental inflatable that is prominently set up at the historic Padang.
It is our honour to play a role in realising Han Sai Por’s artistic vision, demonstrating our ability to seamlessly blend creativity, engineering, and craftsmanship to create this awe-inspiring public art experiences.
