"Multi-sensory journey into childhood nostalgia, through elements of sight, smell and touch."
The Singapore Art Museum's roving learning gallery, ChildISH, offers visitors a multi-sensory journey into childhood nostalgia. Located at Punggol Regional Library, this innovative exhibition playfully evokes the essence of youth through contemporary artworks and explores the concept of childhood from a reflective perspective.
Designed to tour various regional libraries across Singapore, these fun and colourful blocks were designed and constructed to be self-standing and easily transportable across sites—making art accessible to diverse audiences and locations.
With the thoughtful integration of multi-sensory and interactive elements, the Learning Gallery invites visitors of all ages to reconnect with the uninhibited creativity and imagination that defined childhood. The union of tactile installations, immersive audio-visuals, and participatory activities create a multi-sensory experience meticulously designed to ignite curiosity and imagination.
This dynamic approach transcends passive viewership, fostering a deeper connection between the exhibition and personal memories of visitors.
"A blank canvas that encourages the exploration and self-reflection on one’s childhood."
Enhancing the sensory experience with literary art forms, local poets have crafted evocative poems in response to featured artworks from the Learning Gallery.
Our designers also drew inspiration from the Tanglin Halt estate and local avian such as Oriental Pied Hornbill for the touch-activated lightbox. By fusing nostalgic visuals with literary art, ChildISH creates a canvas for exploration and self-reflection for visitors of all ages.
