"A dynamic interactive experience unveiling the rich stories of our hawker culture, its heroes and iconic dishes."
Into the Hawkerverse at the Children’s Museum Singapore is a dynamic educational space that vividly brings Singapore’s unique hawker culture to life for children. Through meticulous spatial planning, our team seamlessly integrated hawker culture’s rich history and potential future into three distinct galleries— Playpot, Intro & Past and Present & Future. These were created as an immersive environment that blends fun, interactivity, and education for the young ones and their families.
As the appointed Design and Build partner, we reimagined the space through the eyes and hands of young ones. Developed with extensive input from children and audience research, the exhibition embodies the perfect blend of hands-on activities, multi-sensory exploration, and digital interactive displays. All set-ups were designed at child’s eye level with softened edges for safe engagement for children of all ages.
"Interactive digital displays, multi-sensory elements and soft edges placed at child-friendly heights, creating a safe environment that allows children to explore freely and confidently."
Children can step into the shoes of hawkers and experience running their own stalls at the Changeable Hawker Stalls in the Present & Future zone. With the clever incorporation of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, the activity allows them to understand the importance of time management and effort required to run a hawker stall, thereby encouraging the development of crucial motor and social skills.
With numerous interactive touch points and immersive informative storytelling, Into the Hawkerverse is a one-stop exhibition that brings Singapore’s vibrant Hawker culture to life for young visitors.
